Tobacco Leaf Sugar Pot
This exquisite sugar pot features the iconic Tobacco Leaf design, one of the most highly prized patterns of the 18th century. Originally crafted in China for export to the Portuguese and Brazilian markets, this intricate motif was also favored by George and Martha Washington—examples of their pieces are part of the Mount Vernon collection.
A vibrant phoenix bird rests among the flowering leaves of the Nicotiana (Tobacco) plant, rendered in a vivid palette of twenty-seven colors, with hand-applied 22k gold accents. This reproduction is based on an original piece on display at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
