Tobacco Leaf Mug
This elegant Tobacco Leaf Mug showcases one of the most celebrated designs of the 18th century. Originally created in China for export to the Portuguese and Brazilian markets, the Tobacco Leaf pattern was among the most coveted of its time. George and Martha Washington owned pieces in this pattern, and authentic examples are preserved today in the Mount Vernon collection.
The design features a small phoenix bird perched on the vibrant leaves of the flowering Nicotiana (Tobacco) plant, brought to life with twenty-seven rich colors and luxurious 22k gold accents. This exquisite pattern is based on an original piece housed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
