These Porcelain ornaments from the Mount Vernon OrnamentĀ Collection featureĀ designs inspired byĀ museum artifacts,Ā architectural, and decorative features of the estate; each a testament to the Washingtons' personal taste, and a reflection of popular fashion among the American gentry during the 18th century.

This extravagant Chinese tobacco leaf design was originally made for export to the Portuguese and Brazilian markets. During their time, George and Martha Washington owned many pieces of Tobacco Leaf design Chinaware, as there are many examples of this pattern in the Mount Vernon Collection today.
