Mount Vernon 3-in-1 Game Set
Colonial Americans were familiar with and often played the board games we enjoy today: Checkers, Chess and Backgammon. These games were particularly popular with the Founding Fathers. Historical records indicate that Thomas Jefferson enjoyed playing backgammon and would win or lose several shillings in a session. George Washington owned a beautiful ivory chess set. On one occasion Mrs. Washington asked her husband what his favorite forms of entertainments were, to which George replied “I read, my lady, and write and play chess.”
This game box measures 5 ¼” x 5 ¼” x 1 ¾” and includes pieces for all three game.
