Martha Washington's Shell Pattern Pincushion Cross Stitch Kit
This cross-stich shell-pattern pincushion is adapted from a repeat pattern Martha Washington used for needlework cushions now in the Mount Vernon collection. Mrs. Washington completed 12 shell-patterned cushions over a period of 36 years. The cushions were used on Windsor chairs.
Our finished pincushion cross-stitch kit measures approximately 4 ½” x 5 ¼” and is made from 28-count cream colored cotton fabric. Box includes instructions and chart, D.M.C. floss with silk accent, floss for cording, cotton backing fabric, a needle and a Martha Washington provenance card from George Washington’s Mount Vernon.
