Martha Washington Wedding Shoe Ornament

Handmade exclusively for Mount Vernon by the British company St. Nicolas, this unique ornament is created in collaboration with charities in Thailand and India. For 25 years, St. Nicolas has helped disadvantaged rural women earn an income by sewing decorations in their own homes and communities.

Martha Custis's wedding shoes were considered haute couture, comparable to today's most exclusive designer heels. Crafted from rich purple silk and decorated with sterling silver braid and spangles, these shoes made a striking statement.

This elegant shoe ornament features purple lace fabric and gold thread detailing, celebrating Martha Washington's distinctive style. It measures approximately 4 1/2 in x 2 1/2 in and includes a 4 in gold hanging thread.
