The Dolley Madison ornament is one of the unique products of St. Nicolas, a British company which has worked with a small Christian charity in Thailand or India for 25 years helping disadvantaged rural women work in their own community by sewing decorations at home. Dolley Madison, First Lady to President James Madison, who is remembered for helping to furnish the newly constructed White House and, when British set it on fire in 1814, she was credited with saving the classic portrait of George Washington. She wears a gown in dark red with a silver colored underskirt. Her accessories include a fan and glamorous feathered hat. The ornament is approximately 5 Ā½" tall.
