This elegant Tobacco Leaf design originated in 18th-century China, likely crafted for export to the Portuguese and Brazilian markets. Among all porcelain patterns of the era, Tobacco Leaf stood out as the most lavish and sought-after.

George and Martha Washington owned pieces of this very pattern, and original examples are part of the Mount Vernon collection.

A delicate phoenix bird is depicted perched on the vibrant leaves of the flowering Nicotiana (Tobacco) plant, brought to life with twenty-seven vivid colors and hand-applied 22k gold. The design is based on an original piece now housed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
