Tobacco Leaf 5-piece Place Setting

$575.00
SKU 1446

This extravagant design was originally made in China, probably for export to the Portuguese and Brazilian markets.   Of all the 18th century dinnerware patterns, this was the most highly prized.
George and Martha Washington owned pieces of this pattern and there are examples of Tobacco Leaf china in the Mount Vernon collection.
A small phoenix bird perches on the leaves of the flowering Nicotiana (Tobacco) plant. Twenty-seven colors with 22k gold characterize this pattern, based on an original which is displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The five piece place setting includes the 10 ½" dinner plate, 8 ½" dessert plate, 7 ½" bread and butter plate and cup (2 ½" in height) and saucer. Available by Special Order only. Please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery.
