This exceptional large silver coin is a French Silver Ecu minted the year of George Washington's birth! French silver and gold coins were legal tender in coin-poor America until 1857.
Obverse bears the portrait of King Louis XV (1715-1774). Reverse design features the crowned French arms within sprays, date above left, and mint mark (I) below.
Struck by the Limoges Mint in .917 silver. This coin is protected by a round acrylic case perfect for display.
