Wooden Ossabow Island Pig Ornament
Of all the farm animals that now call Mount Vernon home, none is rarer than the Ossabow Island hog. Over a period of two decades, Washington’s estate has become a hub for raising this heritage breed which originally hails from a small island off the coast of Georgia. Hogs were an extremely important source of protein on Washington’s 18th-century plantation.
This Ossabow Island hog is hand-painted, hand-carved and measures 2 ½” x 2”, with a 4” jute string for hanging. Start a farm-animal collection by combining this with our wooden Hog Island sheep and wooden Dominique chicken ornaments.
