Description

The Mount Vernon Collection includes glassware in the deep blue color that has been used for the foot of this otherwise clear glass. The Mount Vernon tavern glass is made in a style commonly seen at homes and taverns in colonial times. A clear tavern glass was generally used for wine while a darker colored glass was used for other beverages. The glasses are approximately 7" tall, 2 ¾" in diameter at the base, and 3 ¼" in diameter at the lip. Size will vary as each glass is individually hand-made. The capacity of the small tavern glass is 4 ounces. "GW" has been etched on the bottom of each glass exclusively for Mount Vernon. Handmade by Blenko Glass, West Virginia stained glass makers since the 19th century.
