Description

"Botanical Magazine" volumes were part of George Washington's personal library. These beautifully illustrated books sought to popularize and encourage the cultivation of rare wild plants which were being introduced in England. Many of the plants had not been previously described or named in any publication. As new regions of the world were being explored, the "Botanical Magazine" charted the development of botanical exploration.
