These finely turned peppermills were created by Doug Dill, master wood crafter in Lanexa, Virginia.
Wood for the peppermills was sourced from three different trees planted at Mount Vernon; a pecan tree circa 1850, a swamp chestnut oak circa 1771, and a white oak circa 1783.
The 4 ½" tall grinding mechanism is fastened to the top of the 5" handmade shaft; overall height is just under 9". The name of the artisan and the source of the wood are engraved on the underside of the mill. Handmade in the USA.
