Mount Vernon Bee Skep Lamp
According to George Washington's granddaughter Nelly Custis, his favorite breakfast consisted of hoecakes swimming in butter and honey. In early America, bees were cultivated for their honey using inverted grass or straw baskets called skeps to house the bee colony.
The white ceramic lamp with gold leaf on cast metal mounting is 30" tall. The black fabric shade is 14" at the top, 15" at the bottom and 11" tall.
