Martha's Jewels Compact Mirror
Both sides of this hinged compact mirror are decorated with an image of Martha’s favorite red garnet jewels. Design printed on attractive and sturdy white faux leather. Mrs. Washington's fondness for garnets is evident from the number of necklaces, earrings, pins, hair ornaments and rings she assembled for herself and her daughter Patsy in the 1750s and 1760s. Properly faceted and set, this hard stone out-sparkled even more costly precious gems such as diamonds.
Inside the 3" compact are two 2 ¼" mirrors, one standard and one with 2x magnification. This handy accessory fits easily in pocket or purse.
