Lyndon Johnson's Beagle "Edgar"
Lyndon Johnson was President of the United States from 1963-1969. In 1966, then FBI Director J. Edgar Hoover gifted President Johnson with a beagle who the president called Edgar. Once, when Johnson and Hoover were strolling across the White House lawn, Johnson called out, "Edgar, come here!" The confused Director Hoover replied, "I am here, Mr. President." When the president's term was completed, Edgar, the beagle, moved with the Johnsons to their ranch in Texas.
The machine washable brown, black and white beagle is 8" long and 6 ½" tall. For ages 24 months and up. The Presidential Pet hang tag notes President Johnson's years in office and identifies "Edgar" as President Johnson's beagle.
