The armillary sphere is one of the oldest astronomical instruments in the world. These devices were used as teaching tools and models not only in ancient Greece but throughout Asia and the Islamic Empire. The spheres were made with several numbers of circles arranged at different angles. Spheres with as many as nine circles have been known to exist and the rings were adjusted to trace the path of the stars.
This Iron Armillary adds a decorative, historic touch to your home or garden. The sphere with the framework of rings measures 12” in diameter with sturdy base.
Total dimensions are 17” W x 17” H.
