Handmade Historic Pecan Bud Vase #M009

SKU: 26018

This finely turned pecan bud vase was created by Doug Dill, master wood crafter in Lanexa, Virginia. Wood for the vase was sourced from the Mount Vernon Pecan Tree circa 1850. The pecan appears prominently in virtually all exterior graphic and photographic images of Mount Vernon. The pecan tree stood next to the Mansion with branches soaring to 145 feet and posed a direct threat to the Mansion and the priceless objects contained therein. The approximately 50 ton tree was removed in January 2014 and the wood held in safekeeping on the Mount Vernon estate. The vase is highlighted by a shot of turquoise from metal oxidation and a knot hole. It is approximately 7 ½" tall, 2 ½" in diameter at the top and 3" in diameter at the base. This unique item is signed and numbered by the artist with the tree source indicated on the bottom and is accompanied by a certificate signed by the Regent of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association. Please note that there are no discounts available for this item. Handmade in the USA.
