The George Washington's Cypher Wine Glass is an elegant addition to any table. George Washington's Cypher, or monogram, is etched on one side of the clear glass. Six small stars decorate the reverse side commemorating Washington's rank as America's only six-star general. At his death in 1799, Washington was a three-star lieutenant-general. During the American Bicentennial in 1976, he was posthumously awarded the American supreme rank of general of the armies, this country's only six-star general. Congress passed a joint resolution calling for George Washington to be promoted to the highest possible rank "above all other ranks in the United States Army forever".
On our wine glasses only, the six stars indicate the fill line for a perfect 6 ounce pour.
The 17 oz. glass is dishwasher safe. Approximately 8 1/2" tall.
Made in Italy and etched in the USA.
