Gardening Martha Caroler by Byers' Choice
Our exclusive Gardening Martha Caroler captures the elegance and charm of Martha Washington, a woman deeply connected to the land she called home. She is portrayed carrying a petite watering can and a bouquet of pink blooms, gathered fresh from her flourishing garden.
Both George and Martha Washington shared a love of gardening, and Mount Vernon’s grounds were filled with rare and exotic plants sent from around the world. Skilled gardeners were highly valued and provided with the best tools of the time, including beautifully crafted French copper “watering pots.”
This handcrafted Byers’ Choice figure is dressed in a multicolored colonial-style cotton gown with a blue felt mini cape. A delicate mob cap—historically worn to keep dust out of the hair—is tucked beneath her wide straw hat, completing her look as a proper colonial gardener.
