Description
The first version of the Half Dollar, known as the Bust Half Dollar, was introduced in 1794 and remained in production until the late 1830s. One side of this coin features the profile of Lady Liberty. To the left and right sides of Lady Liberty are a total of 13 stars to commemorate the 13 original colonies of the United States. The year of minting, 1813, can be found at the bottom of the coin and on the other side is an eagle with a shield on its chest and an olive branch and a cluster of arrows in its claws.
The coin has an attractive light-on-dark patina referred to as reverse silhouette.
This is an original coin, not a reproduction; diameter is approximately 30 mm.
