Description
This full 360° panorama photograph shows the East Front of Mount Vernon and one of America's most memorable landscapes. Originally in George Washington's family from the 17th century, the land and buildings today represent a lifetime of dedication Washington brought to this area. The vista is really the culminating moment of his larger vision which extends well into the countryside in all directions. In contrast to the formal western approach to the Mansion along the major east-west axis, the eastern vantage point over the Potomac is a tribute to the site's natural beauty and remains much as it was in Washington's time. Retaining only the formality of the Mansion's symmetrical façade, the design of the eastern landscape complements and preserves the original setting of forest, river, sky, and the view to the banks of the Maryland shoreline beyond. The 360-degree format of the photograph captures the full grandeur of this historic area.
The 360-degree panoramic sepia photograph is printed on FujiColor Professional Paper. Nielsen Frosted Walnut frame matted with four-ply acid-free white museum board mounted on 3/16" acid-free white foam core. The framed print measures 40" x 10". Signed and numbered by the photographer, James O. Phelps.
