Historic Wood Bowl #40
On the Mount Vernon Estate in #1 Field, a magnificent white oak stood prominently, long regarded as integral to the Estate's history. In 2006, dendrochronologists dated the tree to at least 1706, potentially even older, though some rings remained indistinguishable. Dendrochronology has reigned as the foremost dating method for nearly 40 years. Despite its significance, the tree's decline led to its removal on November 23, 2022, marking the end of an era.
We've turned over the wood from the tree to master wood turner Doug Dill from Lanexa, Virginia, entrusting him to transform it into one-of-a-kind heirloom pieces for generations to come. This piece is signed, numbered, and bears the inscription "1706 White Oak" on the bottom. Please note that historic wood items are non-discountable and non-returnable.
Note that the bowl has unique small areas of crushed turquoise which have been added for visual interest.
