Although most decoys are created to be functional, the Diving Merganser Decoy was created to be a true work of art. This graceful piece was designed especially for a mantelpiece, where it can dive below the surface. The wooden decoy with its captured fish was hand carved and painted by K. William Kautz whose work has appeared in the Museum of American Folk Art in NYC, The Shelburne Museum in Vermont, The Nantucket Whaling Museum in Massachusetts and the Abby Aldridge Rockefeller Museum in Colonial Williamsburg, Virginia. Kautz has been named by Early American Homes in its Directory of Best Traditional Craftsmen. The handmade wooden decoy is 26" x 5" x 5".
Made in the USA.
