The pineapple was the colonial symbol for hospitality and General Washington's favorite fruit. Washington admitted that while the pear was "generally most admired...none pleases my taste as do's the Pine."

Today, the pineapple is a sign of welcome and is found at many historic sites. The vibrantly colored light tangerine suncatcher featuring the pineapple is approximately 4" in diameter.

Handmade exclusively for Mount Vernon by Blenko Glass, West Virginia stained glass makers since the 19th century.
