This one pint jug in the popular blue and white Staffordshire pattern is made exclusively for Mount Vernon in Staffordshire, England. Brought to America in the 18th century, this pottery was an immediate success. Its popularity continued throughout the 19th and 20th centuries with many designs featuring George Washington and Mount Vernon. This type of earthenware was inexpensive, fashionable and distinguished by colorful transfer-printed designs.
John H. Roth & Company has been supplying Mount Vernon with Staffordshire souvenir ceramics for over half of a century. These reproductions are produced in the same factories in Staffordshire, England that supplied Mount Vernon in the 1930's. Today they produce wares in porcelain, but they still retain the elaborate and brilliant designs that have been enjoyed for generations.
The jug which features an image of Mount Vernon in blue and white is approximately 4” tall, 2 ¼” at the base and 3” wide at the spout.
