Description

From the time Mount Vernon became his home in 1754 until his death in 1799, George Washington continued to improve and expand his mansion residency for the comfort of his family and to reinforce his status within genteel Virginia society. This three-dimensional, 24-karat gold-finished brass ornament shows the Mansion in amazing detail from all sides. George Washington wrote, "No estate in United America is more pleasantly situated than this." From the Dove of Peace weather vane on top of the cupola to George and Martha Washington standing on the piazza of the East Front with their grandchildren, this ornament does justice to Washington's beloved home. The ornament is engraved with Mount Vernon on the bottom, and it comes in an attractive burgundy box with gold-stamped lettering.
