The raw edge of this hemlock bowl is the natural bark of the 18th century tree, circa 1791. The Canadian hemlock towered over the serpentine path by the upper garden gate and was a living witness to the lives of George and Martha Washington. On March 2, 2018 a severe nor’easter brought strong winds which struck down the historic Canadian hemlock. This hemlock bowl was created by Doug Dill, master wood crafter in Lanexa, Virginia.

This unique item is signed and numbered on the bottom; a small card with the number and tree source and date is included. The natural edged bowl is approximately 8 ½” x 7 ½" with sides ranging in height from 3 ½” to 4 ½”.

Your bowl is accompanied by a numbered certificate signed by the Regent of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association. Please note that there are no discounts available for this item.

Handmade in the USA.
