Jackson Wonder Bush Lima Bean Seed Pack
Jackson Wonder Bush Lima Bean
In the 18th century, the lima or butterbean was often called the bushel or sugar bean. Jackson Wonder is a bush form of heirloom lima bean growing 18-24” tall.
The beans are meaty and sweet and can be eaten fresh or dried. The plants grow best in full sun and well-drained soil. The seeds dry to a tan color with maroon to purple mottling. Regular harvesting of the young pods will ensure a greater yield. Bears even during extreme heat which makes it a popular variety to grow in the South.
Beans are not cold tolerant and need warm soil of 65-70°F or higher to grow. Direct sow beans in the garden, plant seeds 1” deep and 6-8” apart; space rows 2’ apart. Seeds germinate in 10-14 days. Thin seedlings to a 12-14” spacing between plants when they are 1-2” tall. 60-70 days for fresh beans. 80+ days for dry beans.
