The Mount Vernon Collection contains needlepoint cushions made by Martha Washington over a period of thirty-six years. Mrs. Washington's shell pattern for those cushions is the inspiration for the design of this glass suncatcher.

The opal colored suncatcher featuring the shell is approximately 4" in diameter. Handmade exclusively for Mount Vernon by Blenko Glass, West Virginia stained glass makers since the 19th century.
