Swamp Rose Mallow Seed Pack

SKU 10853

Swamp Rose Mallow Hibiscus moscheutos is a marshland plant native to eastern and southern portions of North America. It has been growing in American gardens since the 1700s.

This herbaceous perennial prefers sunny, moist locations. It grows 3-8' tall and 3-4' wide and produces beautiful 4-5" white flowers with a crimson eye atop tall stems from early to late summer. The plants are ideal for landscape uses and, once established, tolerate poor soil and drought. Start seeds indoors 10-12 weeks before the last frost date.

Sow 1 seed per cell in a plug tray and cover seeds with ¼" of germination mix. Water and move the tray to a warm environment where temperatures can be maintained at 68-78°F. Keep the germination mix moist but not wet. When roots reach the bottom of the plug tray and begin to wrap, transplant seedlings into larger containers. When the seedlings reach 6-8" in height, transplant into the garden. USDA Zones 5-9.
