African Marigold Seed Pack
African marigold: Tagetes erecta
African marigold seeds were advertised for sale in Boston in 1760. The plant is native to Mexico and Central America, not Africa as the common name implies.
This annual flower grows best in full sun and well-drained soil. Upright, bushy plants grow 1-3' tall and 1-2' wide. The flowers are bright yellow and appear from summer until frost. Deer and rabbit resistant.
Direct sow seed into the garden after the last frost date. Space seeds 18-24" apart and cover with ¼" of soil. Seeds germinate in 10-14 days at soil temperatures between 68-70°F. USDA Zones 2-11.
