Mount Vernon 2016 Annual Ornament
The 2016 ornament design is inspired by the badge of the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association. Commissioned by the Vice Regent for New York, Miss Amy Cornell Townsend, the badge was originally designed by Tiffany & Co. and adopted in 1909. The Mount Vernon Ladies' Association is the first and oldest national historic preservation organization. The board's pioneering efforts in the field of preservation set landmark precedents and has served as a role model for many subsequent endeavors.
An image of the East Front of the Mount Vernon Mansion is surrounded by 28 pearls which are bordered by 13 gold colored stars on a deep blue field. A red banner with "Mount Vernon 2016" and a laurel wreath complete the front of the ornament. The reverse shows this 1874 quote from Ann Pamela Cunningham, the founder of the Ladies' Association, "Ladies, the home of George Washington is in your charge - see to it that you keep it the home of Washington".
Finish is 24 kt gold. Beautifully gift-boxed with an educational enclosure card.
Red ribbon for hanging is included.
