George Washington included four octagonal structures that added both practical and decorative touches to the gardens as part of his plan for the upper and lower gardens at Mount Vernon. In the mid-1970s, one of these small buildings in the west end of the upper garden was identified as the "schoolhouse" and it was likely that Martha's grandchildren, Nelly and Washy Custis, took some of their lessons there.
The vibrantly colored seabreeze blue-green suncatcher featuring the schoolhouse is approximately 4" in diameter.

Handmade exclusively for Mount Vernon by Blenko Glass, West Virginia stained glass makers since the 19th century.

Made in the USA.
