Washington's Griffin Pewter Cocktail Shaker

This steel and pewter cocktail shaker features a sculpted topper figure of a mythical griffin – the creature used in George Washington's coat-of-arms design for generations.

George Washington placed this crest, a winged lion's body with a bird's head, on many of his most important possessions, including his bookplate, silver plate, and presidential coach. In 1757 Washington acquired a mahogany version of his coat-of-arms, which he placed in the front parlor, "the best room in my house."

This three piece stainless steel and pewter cocktail shaker with built-in strainer has a 16 ounce capacity, and a cap that will measure one ounce. 

An American made pewter griffin finial tops this fine shaker, which is manufactured in England. Total height is approximately 9 ¾" tall with the stopper in place.
