The General Washington Nutcracker is an exclusive original handcrafted product made from sustainable forestry by Müller of Seiffen, Germany. Müller is a 4th generation family business known for its exquisite and superior quality and craftsmanship. General Washington's uniform is a painted blue jacket with a red waistcoat embellished with a gold painted trim. A black tri-cornered hat with soft velvety flaps, a wooden sword on his left side, a rifle on his right shoulder, and an embroidered collar complete the uniform.

This is the uniform of the Commander in Chief’s Guard, an infantry organization composed of carefully selected men, also called “The Life Guard” (1776-1783). The infantry of the Guard was responsible for ensuring the safety of the commander in chief, protecting his papers and personal effects, and guarding army headquarters. The cavalry division accompanied Washington on marches, served as scouting patrols and delivered the General’s orders to various military posts. This Guard initially numbered approximately 50 men primarily from Virginia. After 1778, it had as many as 150 members selected from the Army. The Guard, disbanded on June 6, 1783, had one final assignment: the delivery of Washington’s personal papers to Mount Vernon. Washington resigned his commission as commander-in-chief to Congress in Annapolis on December 23, 1783 and returned to Mount Vernon the following day.

The nutcracker stands on a solid wood base with a small Müller logo (front and center). It makes a wonderful holiday gift for the collector in your family! The General Washington Nutcracker is approximately 10" tall.
