The 2021 calendar of Mount Vernon is filled with beautiful pictures of the estate and illustrates the rich legacy of the lives of George and Martha Washington on this historic property. Highlighted are pictures of the west front restoration project. The exterior of Washington's home appears to be blocks of stone, but it is in fact wood siding beveled to look like stone. This technique is known as rustication. This is the first time since 1980 that the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association has undertaken a major restoration of the Mansion's west front. In doing so painters removed up to 28 layers of paint and sand. All window sashes were systematically removed, repaired, and reinstalled while the original Dove of Peace weathervane was also removed, examined, cleaned, re-gilded and re-mounted.

Mount Vernon does not accept government support and fully funds its preservation and educational programs through private donations, admissions, and retail sales. Sales of this calendar help the Mount Vernon Ladies' Association to preserve Mount Vernon and educate people about the life and legacy of George Washington.
