The natural edge oval bowl was handcrafted by Doug Dill of Lanexa, Virginia of historic Mount Vernon red oak, circa 1798. This bowl measures 10" x 9" and is 3-1/2" deep. This beautiful piece has three distinct patterns; red and circular in center, darker and striated on inner edge, darker and more striated on the outer edge leading to the bark, perfectly glossy and interestingly shaped despite its great age. The Mount Vernon red oak tree, dating to Washington's time, stood on the grounds of the present-day Slave Memorial and was removed due to poor condition in 2016. This unique piece is signed, numbered and tree source indicated on the bottom. Your purchase is accompanied by a numbered certificate signed by the Regent of the Mount Vernon Ladies Association. Please note that no discounts are available for this item.
