This colorful round box is an adaptation of an N. C. Wyeth painting in the series, Age of Discovery, circa 1926, showing a map of the Western Hemisphere. The map was commissioned by the National Geographic Society to hang in Hubbard Memorial Hall, the Society's first formal library of exploration of the natural world, where it hangs today. The fine porcelain lidded box from Mottahedeh is 2" tall with a diameter of 3 ½".
