This unusual vessel was handcrafted by Doug Dill in Lanexa, Virginia from historic Mount Vernon swamp chestnut oak, circa 1771. The swamp chestnut oak tree is our oldest, dating to George and Martha Washington's time at Mount Vernon. The 5" wide and 7" tall vessel with intriguing patterns of color markings, burl, and knots is highlighted by shots of turquoise from metal oxidation. The piece is signed and numbered by the artist with the tree source indicated on the bottom and is accompanied by a certificate signed by the Regent of the Mount Vernon Ladies Association. Please note that no discounts are available for this item. Handmade in USA.
